PRODUCT
At JAKOB, we are deeply committed to excellence in every aspect of our creations, with a dual focus on customer satisfaction and environmental responsibility. This ethos is evident not just in our designs, but also in our choice of a 'Made in Italy' production approach and the meticulous selection of 'Made in Prato' eco-cashmere yarn. We pay close attention to every detail, going to great lengths to source garment trims that align with our high standards. For instance, JAKOB's Corozo buttons are sourced from a historic, revitalized button factory in the UK. Similarly, all our labels are made in the UK and crafted from 100% natural cotton, reflecting our dedication to quality and sustainability.
For accurate measurements, we would advise going to a tailor. However, to get an estimation, follow the below guidelines;
- Chest - Measure at the fullest part of your chest, underarm point to underarm point
- Length - Measure in a straight line from HPS (high point shoulder) down to bottom of garment.
- Sleeve Length - The sleeve length is measured from the center back of the neck, just below the collar, over the shoulder and down to the end of the cuff
- Hem Width - Place the tape measure around the fullest part of your hips.
Exact measurements for each knitwear piece can always be found on the respective product page within the “size chart” section.
All our knitwear is designed with a relaxed looser fit. Exact measurements for each knitwear piece can always be found on each product page within the 'size chart' section.
As all of our knitwear is designed to be a relaxed loose fit, so if you are between sizes, you will actually be able to go for either of the sizes you are between, they will just have a different style.
For example for our Heirloom Cardigan, if you are a UK 10, you sit between our XS and S. If you were looking for a more tailored, close fitted cardigan, then we would recommend you go for the XS. If you were wanting a looser and more relaxed fit though, we would tell you to go for the S. Also, please do check our size and fit advice on the product pages to see whether you should size up or down depending on the style of knitwear and if you're still not sure, please email us at info@jakobknitwear.com
At JAKOB, we believe that most natural fiber knitwear doesn’t need to be washed very often and the longer you leave your knitwear without washing it, the more beautiful it will be.
For your JAKOB eco-cashmere piece, please keep in mind the following care instructions:
- Gentle dry cleaning only (this is to ensure the bicolour design of the Heirloom cardigan remains as impeccable as it is). We recommend using eco-friendly dry cleaners where possible.
- Do not wash in water.
- Do not bleach.
- Do not tumble.
- Cool iron. We recommend steaming with a steam iron for the best and safest finish and to avoid crushing or flattening the natural pile of the yarns and pull out of shape.
- We believe a good airing is usually enough but to freshen between wearings, you can use a specific Cashmere Spray / Knitwear Mist like from Cashmere & Cotton or Clothes Doctor which also helps to repel bugs and moths.
All our garments are crafted with immense love and care by skilled knitwear artisans in Italy, where numerous details are meticulously hand-linked or hand-finished, including the labels which are delicately hand-stitched. To ensure the longevity of your treasured heirloom piece, we kindly ask you to treat it with the utmost care, and in return, it will cherish you for many years to come.
If you are interested in a style but it is sold out in your size, then look for the 'Join the waiting list’ button on the product page.As soon as the product is restocked you will be first to know. JAKOB advocates for excellence in innovation, a standard evident in the aesthetic, the superior knitting in a family-owned studio in Italy, and especially the selection of eco-conscious cashmere yarn. Depending on whether you look at European data or US data, the amount of clothing discarded per person annually comes to 33–80 pounds.
Cashmere fibers often remain in reusable condition. In partnership with one of the finest cashmere milks in Italy, we ensure the finest cashmere remnants are handpicked and blended with premium virgin cashmere, crafting yarns of unparalleled luxury that promote sustainability, environmental stewardship, and carbon footprint reduction.

„I spent countless nights searching the internet for natural button suppliers in Europe or the UK. I simply didn‘t see the point of using buttons which have traveled thousands of miles from China or South America. I was convinced there must be another solution and I didn’t give up until I found it." Alexandra, founder
And of course, we won’t stop here; we always thrive to do better on this journey of creating something beautiful yet with a more environmentally friendly approach.
