At Home With Marine Tanguy

Marine is an entrepreneur, author, art advocate, and mother of three. She founded MTArt Agency (@mtartagency) - the first talent agency for visual artists and a certified B Corp reshaping the art world - and is the bestselling author of Visual Detox. A passionate campaigner for reducing visual pollution, she has even advocated for change in British Parliament.

We spent an afternoon in her London home*, where art meets family life, to discuss the role of art in society, personal style, and what a sustainable life means to her. Bold, focused, and full of colour, Marine shares her vision for a more beautiful, conscious future.

*The interview and the images were captured in summer 2025 when Marine was pregnant with her third child.

The Role of Art and Artists in Society: You've emphasized the importance of investing in artists rather than just art. How do you believe this approach reshapes the art world's dynamics?

The art world is, by definition, focused on the artwork, the ‘art’. I always cared more about the artist, his/her/their artistic vision, how to support it and how to integrate that said vision into as many contexts as possible - be a street, a digital screen, a desert, and so on... we did just that as you can see on this reel. By creating these inspiring visual stories, we also opened up new revenue streams and audiences to the art world and its artists.

“We consume 10,000 images a day - 99% commercial with AI generated visuals set to dominate by 2050, now more than ever, we need the mental & emotional balance that art provides - human, hopeful & socially driven.”

The Visual Detox and Visual Culture: What inspired you to write ‘The Visual Detox’, and what core message do you hope readers take away from it?

[The book] It’s a dream come true for the five-year-old-me: to show the importance visuals have on us, how they shape society, our belief systems and what we end up becoming. Teaching visual literacy, the art of reading images is also key as we are surrounded by visual misinformation. It’s a call to action to become an active visual thinker in an overtly visual world.

Leadership, Motherhood, and Personal Style: As a CEO and mother, how do you navigate the challenges of leadership while maintaining personal well-being?

I am very disciplined when it comes to the time that I give to tasks. This enables me to rush back to be with my kids. I am also the queen of priorities and being present. I am in the now for everything - work, ballet, friends, family. Entrepreneurship teaches you: daily small steps with your head in the clouds of the vision and it does end up becoming real : ). I like my life being full of many lives, all of these lives support me as an individual. It’s full of colours and I love colours : ).

How has motherhood influenced your perspective on art and business?

It hasn’t actually. I am so lucky to have become the mother I would have hoped to be. I am so grateful to be able to provide a life filled with art, culture, a great community of people and values to my children.

Are there particular artists or fashion icons whose style resonates with you and influences your personal aesthetic?

It’s a mix of Simone Veil, ballet dancers, Romy Schneider, Dior in the 1970s and Flashdance.

Do you possess any heirloom items that hold special significance and inspire your work or style?

Yes! I always wear my ballet leotards, even pregnant, with my shorts and jeans and the jewellery I wear has so many stories, from my grandmother to my children and the love of my life.

As someone who travels frequently, what are your tips for maintaining style and comfort on the go, especially regarding knitwear?

Classic pieces that can be mixed with a single knitwear and ballet pumps.

Art, Sustainability, and Future Visions: What does sustainable living mean to you, and how do you incorporate it into your daily life?

Sustainable living for me means not having a car and cycling around London, not using ChatGTP for every search and answer as it drains so many natural resources, using my tailor to repair my clothes (even when I untangle my dress from my bicycle wheel), shopping from local markets and delis. Being intentional, thoughtful, cherishing every object and avoiding single-use items.

And lastly, what book are you currently reading, and how is it influencing your thoughts or work?

‘The Last Dream’ by Pedro Almodóvar - it’s a jewel.
